Along with the announcement of the new Cyber-shot RX10 III this morning, Sony also announced two new lenses designed for its full-frame mirrorless cameras.

First up is the brand-new FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS telephoto zoom lens (officially the SEL70300G). Offering Sony users an adaptable full-frame telephoto lens, this fills a gap in Sony's lens library for Sony Alpha A7 II shooters in need of a little more reach.

A "nifty fifty" is often the first lens you buy for an interchangeable lens camera.

Offering optical stabilization and a minimum focus distance just under three feet, this glass comes well equipped to rapidly-changing situations. It comes with some higher-end features like Nano AR coating and two extra-low dispersion elements. That drives the price up quite a bit higher than other similar lenses, but it'll still serve as a cheaper alternative to the new G "Master" FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS—though pricing on that is still up in the air. {{amazon name="Sony a7R II Full-Frame Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera, Body Only", asin="B00ZDWGFR2", align="right"}}

Finally, Sony also announced a new, lightweight FE 50mm f/1.8 (officially the SEL50F18F) prime lens—a staple of interchangeable lens camera kits everywhere. Though scant on specifics, Sony made it very clear that this new 50mm prime is geared toward the budget buyer, making it an ideal first lens for anyone purchasing a Sony Alpha A7R II body-only.

If either of these lenses interest you, they'll hit shelves in May 2016—but be sure your checking account is ready for it. The 70-300mm lens comes in at $1,200, while the 50mm prime will set you back only $250—right in line with the company's excellent 50mm f/1.8 OSS for APS-C cameras.
